Dearest family and friends,
You saw me before I was born. Every day of my life was recorded in your book. Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed. Psalm 139:16 (NLT)
I’ve been meditating so very much on this verse of scripture during this season of my life and ministry. These past 12 months have been quite a whirlwind of both challenges and victories, but here we are on the other side of things and we’re still standing strong and with a smile on our faces. When we stick together, trust in the Lord, and walk in the spirit, we always come out triumphant! Glory to God!
First of all, I want to thank you for praying and believing with me for my precious Robyn. We are indeed making progress with her health, in spite of the long road of full recovery which lies ahead of us. As most of you know, we have obtained some temporary help through a doctor in Honolulu, but in order for Robyn to get the fullness of medical care that she truly needs, we will be obtaining that assistance from the mainland. With the Lord’s help, we will continue to see the chemical and hormonal imbalances in her body improve and return to their healthy levels.
My family and I first arrived on Maui on February 9, 1996, that’s almost 22 years ago. We have faithfully obeyed and served the Lord together with our church family, but now that season has come to a close as we are bidding aloha to our Maui home and transitioning to Southern California. I always knew that my time as pastor would end and that we would enter the next phase of our lives in the field ministry by traveling and helping other pastors and churches. I initially thought that we would keep Maui as our base and travel out of Hawaii, but the Lord has different plans for us. Every day of our lives and ministry has been recorded in His book. Every moment has been laid out before a single day has passed. Even though this transition wasn’t what I first envisioned would happen (and I know that many of you feel the same way), this transition to the mainland hasn’t taken the Lord by surprise at all. He saw it all happening before I even set foot on Hawaiian soil.
We are living in a God-ordained moment and stepping out in faith. When we first obeyed the leading of the Lord to move to Maui and begin our ministry here, we had to step out of our secure boat on the mainland onto the water and trust God to sort out the details. After over 21 years, Maui has become a boat for us and we are having to step out, once again, and trust God to continue to sort out the details of every moment of our lives. This move is truly a huge step of faith for us and we humbly ask for your continued love, faith, prayers, and financial partnership as we embrace this next season.
My priority finishing out 2017 and even the first quarter of 2018 is to make myself totally available to my wife and to attend to her immediate needs in her recovery phase. For the first 6 months, I will be doing very little public ministry (if any at all), and I will concentrate on Robyn’s care, allowing her to rest and recover. Then, as the Lord leads and as opportunities present themselves, I will slowly begin to take speaking engagements and will, once again, be in the public ministry. One of my first stops will most definitely be Maui, as well as to minister to our beloved family and friends in Fiji.
On Sunday, September 24th (just two days before my 49th birthday), I will be laying hands on Herman and Carol Haupu and installing them as the lead pastors of Faith Family Maui. They will take the helm of our church family on that morning, but rest assured, you're not going to get rid of me that easy, ha! I will remain on as part of the church board of directors and will offer Herman and Carol my spiritual oversight and assistance as they pastor and navigate Faith Family Maui in this next phase. These are truly supernatural days and the Lord is working in every moment!
I will be mindful to keep you in the loop after we move to California and get settled. Be sure to sign up to receive my email updates by going to www.waynehancock.org and subscribing. You can also continue to support Wayne Hancock Ministries and the work that the Lord has called us to do by remaining a faithful member of our Faith Partner Club. There is a link on our website to donate to the FPC, and you can also text your gift. If you are texting your gift, after the amount please enter the letters FPC and the office will be sure your seed is designated for Wayne Hancock Ministries. Text to give is one of the most easiest ways to partner with our ministry because you can use your debit or credit card and it only takes a few moments to set up.
Robyn and I have developed many friendships over the past two decades we’ve ministered as a part of Faith Family Maui. It will be hard for us to say aloha because we love our Faith Family so very much; however, we do know that it is simply aloha and not goodbye. We have sown much love, grace, and instruction in God’s Word over the years and we are thankful for all the fruit that remains on Maui and will, in turn, produce more eternal fruit for God’s Kingdom.
I will keep this letter short and will keep you informed as we all progress moment by moment in God’s plan. Know that Robyn and I love you and value your love and support.
